What Happens When You Talk to a Provider

Expect this order:

1. Intro. The provider confirms what you need: window replacement, siding, or both. 2. Details. You share the number of windows, the home style and any problems you have noticed. 3. Next step. The provider may suggest a visit to measure and look at the walls or openings. 4. Quote. You receive a written quote to review in your own time.

What to Ask a Provider

First, check this list. Write answers down so you can compare.

• What is included in the quote, and what is not?
• Which materials do you suggest, and why? Ask about energy efficient windows and vinyl siding if they apply.
• How do you prepare the opening or the wall before new products go on?
• What licensing and insurance do you hold?
• How long does the project usually take, and how does weather change that?
• What happens if a hidden problem turns up behind old siding or around a frame?
• Who handles cleanup and disposal?

Match the Job to the Season

Ask about timing. Dry months are easier for exterior work. Winter rain events can delay siding. Smoke seasons may push you to keep windows closed, so sealed, well-fitted windows matter. A good provider will talk about this honestly.
